Bennett Named POE Director of Professional Learning

Sheri Bennett is POE’s new Director of Professional Learning. She is an Oklahoma born and raised educator with 14 years of experience in public education. Most importantly, she is a wife of 24 years and a mother to five incredibly talented children. She holds a  bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Bennett has a true love for serving teachers as she knows that our educators are dedicated to providing safe environments for learning as well as places where students have opportunities to become lifelong learners required for future generations.

She has been a classroom teacher, instructional coach, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) building coach, Assistant Principal, district professional development coordinator/trainer for new teachers, district teacher recruiter, Executive District Committee for Trauma and Resilience and a member of the Collaborative of Resilience in Education (CORE)  for the Oklahoma State Department. She has led sites in training on trauma-informed care, Response to Intervention (RTI), classroom management, differentiated learning and staff development workshops as requested.

“I am really looking forward to engaging and serving our educators with ways to make their lives in the classrooms a bit smoother. To answer the ‘calling’ of becoming a teacher is truly one of the highest honors, Sheri said. “Educators are always hustling to serve their students and sometimes it can be difficult to stop and be a 21st Century, lifelong learner! When I was a building leader with a bird’s eye view, it was obvious that teachers are each other’s best resources and support. When we collaborate knowledge and share best practices, ALL students will benefit!

“On Nov. 10, look for our first Teachable Tuesday on social media and be ready to share ways you can use, add to or modify for your classroom! Let’s use our available technology to learn and support each other at POE.”
