President’s Corner: A Message from Sarah Hicks
“One person might not change the world, but they might change the world for one person.”
These powerful words from a recent national news story remind me of so many educators throughout Oklahoma. Your impact on students is immeasurable, profound and lifelong. I can still remember the wonderful acts of kindness and love shown to me by my teachers when I was in elementary school.
As I listened to this news story about a principal who works overnight at Walmart to help students in need, I was amazed at his care for his students. On that same note, I continue to be amazed by the incredible stories of hope that Oklahoma educators are spreading to our students.
Teachers, you have outdone yourselves this academic year. You go out of your way to be there for your students, you’ve found innovating ways to teach your students and you have continued to build relationships with your students. As I wrote in my January President’s Corner, connecting with our students is healthy and makes a huge difference.
If you haven’t already seen the heartwarming story about North Charleston High School principal Henry Darby, you can watch the NBC story online. We would love to hear from you.
Keep changing the world for one person at a time!
