Math Workshop on May 1st!

Hands-On Equations: Making Algebra Child’s Play

Hands-On Equations gives your students a sound understanding of fundamental algebraic principles, such as the subtraction property of equality and the distributive law, in a fun, hands on, visual way. This teaching method also gives students a head start in solving verbal problems! Educators at all grade-levels are welcome to attend. Training will focus primarily on implementation of Hands-On Equations teaching methods for grades 3 through 8, and applies to both regular education and special education.

State Officer Elections

Current POE members interested in running for a state office must submit an Officer Application to the POE state office no later than 3:00 p.m. on April 20, 2009 in order to be eligible to run for an office.

Hanna teachers decertify union

On Tuesday, April 7, Teachers at Hanna Public Schools unanimously elected their POE local chapter, Professional Educators of Hanna, to represent them. Instead of using confrontational collective bargaining tactics, the teachers will implement the Collaborative Communication Model, which eliminates secrecy and fosters team-work between teachers, administrators and school board members.

POE on OETA - Sunday, April 4

Professional Oklahoma Educators Executive Director Ginger Tinney will appear on OETA's Oklahoma Forum this Sunday, April 4, at 1:00 p.m.  Tinney participated in a panel discussion of Oklahoma Education moderated by Oklahoma Forum host Dick Pryor.  The discussion focused on Senate Bill 834 and Senate Bill 1111, both controversial education bills currently making their way through the legislature.  Click HERE to read Dick Pryor's promotion of this panel discussion.
